Copilot
An AI assistant embedded in a specific application to help with tasks in context, such as coding, writing, or spreadsheets.
Definition
Copilots live inside existing software and draw on what you are working on: the open file, the email thread, the spreadsheet. They suggest completions, draft content, and answer questions without switching apps. The term is used generically and as product names by several vendors.
Why it matters when choosing a tool
Embedded copilots deliver value with little workflow change, which is why office suites, code editors, and CRMs now bundle them.
Where you will meet it
