llms.txt
A proposed plain-text file at a site's root that summarises the site and links key pages for AI assistants and crawlers.
Definition
The llms.txt convention gives language models a curated, markdown-formatted overview of a website, similar in spirit to robots.txt or sitemaps but aimed at comprehension rather than crawling rules. Sites may also publish markdown versions of pages and section-level files. Adoption by AI providers varies, but it costs little to add.
Why it matters when choosing a tool
Publishing llms.txt and clean markdown pages makes it easier for assistants to represent your site accurately.
